Our client engaged us to undertake a safety management system and risk review and to provide specialist advice, specifically relating to the standard of safety management, and the identification of a tier one (highest priority) listing of key safety hazards / issues for the organisation’s gas field operations. The scope of the review involved a wide range of gas field operations including: • construction and project activities (inclusive of compression plant, gas and water poly pipelines, and evaporation ponds); • warehouse, storage and lay-down yard areas; • flowing, pumping and shut-in well sites and general gathering system plant; • well-site drilling activities; • compression plant; • general roadways and gas field access ways.

Our consultants have been engaged by a large passenger rail operator and maintainer, and have provided the following services: review and revision of the Safety Management System, to achieve NSW self insurance status without compromising rail safety accreditation; project management of the implementation of the revised SMS across 15,000 employees and 4000 contractors; development of 40 training courses to support implementation; provision of ongoing support to corporate and specific operational divisions on all aspects of safety management, including rail safety and OHS.

AusSAFE was engaged on a $1bn road tunnel project to oversee project safety management systems implementation and compliance. A number of our personnel were engaged on a permanent basis on the project, inclusive of a direct reporting structure to the Project and Construction Directors. Apart from undertaking an initial review of the Project OHS management system, procedures and safe working practices, AusSAFE consultants were fully integrated into the strategic management of safety on the project, as well as on an operational basis. This ranged from refinement and development of systems, procedures and safe working practices for the project, to review of safe working practices, heavy process machinery and plant, as well as ongoing auditing and review functions.
